Here is how Julia describes Lauriston Farm who comes monthly to sell their high quality products at Wivenhoe Market:
“We are a community owned biodynamic farm based near Goldhanger, Essex. We farm in a holistic, ecological and ethical way; producing slow grown, 100% pasture fed rare breed beef and lamb, along with vegetables, fruit and herbs. All our food produce is Demeter (biodynamic) and organic certified, so we use only natural preparations on the farm, and our animals are treated largely with only herbal and homoeopathic medicines.
From the beautiful fleeces of our Ronaldsay flock, we also make sheepskins rugs, knitting yarn and wool craft items. All our wool products, aside from the craft ware, are certified organic.
But we are much more than just a farm. We do a lot of conservation work, as much of our farm is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. We also run a Day Placement Programme at the farm for adults with learning disabilities to gain meaningful skills. It’s sustainable farming for the future, with a heart.”
